J.Du at pottery wheel

About

Jessica Du is a ceramic artist whose practice spans wheel-thrown functional ware and sculptural forms. Working at the crossroads of utility and art, she investigates how color, texture, and form can work together to create pottery that lives comfortably as both artwork and everyday tableware. Her surfaces serve as spaces for experimentation—layered, carved, glazed, or otherwise transformed—to reveal the evolving relationship between maker and material. Through this dialogue with clay, Du examines how people can evoke connection to and a sense of presence in their everyday objects.

She is based in New York City and currently creates out of the historic Greenwich House Pottery.
